“Last week, Harrow Appi had its first football match, which whether you were a supporter or player, proved to be a great evening. Well done to the U16 team for winning 5-1, in was a tough game and thank you to all those who came out to support on a cold evening.
During the weekend, our boys and girls basketball teams hosted Kanan Junior High School for basketball matches. It was a fun morning in the Sports Hall with both the girls and boys team playing some exciting friendly matches.
Our tennis players also had a busy weekend playing a tennis tournament. Well done to Hank who won Saturday’s tournament and Tomo who won Sunday’s tournament. A very well done to all tennis players who participated in these events, it was truly a successful weekend on the courts.
We also had our first rugby tour last weekend. Our junior and senior rugby teams travelled to Yokohama to play against Yokohama Country and Athletics Club. We really enjoyed the Saturday evening team building in China Town and then on Sunday, we were ready to go. This was the first game of rugby for most of us and both the U14 and U16 teams played with heart. We kept our heads up and never gave up, in what proved to be a hard fixture. Regardless of the result, the boys showed good spirit and we learnt a lot from how our opposition played.
After the match we enjoyed making new friends, learning a little bit more about the history of YCAC and found out that it hosted the first ever rugby match in Japan in 1901. We would like to thank Mr Troxler for putting the whole weekend together and to Mr Long and Mr McLean for assisting in what was a tour we will never forget. We look forward to many more fixtures ahead.”
