May has been a month full of exciting activities and connections for the students at Harrow Appi. We kicked off the month by warmly welcoming new friends to experience the Harrow Appi lifestyle firsthand. The Harrow Experience provided them with a glimpse into the vibrant and enriching environment that our students thrive in. It was a wonderful opportunity to forge new friendships and share the unique spirit of Harrow Appi.
Then our students embarked on their highly anticipated Long Expedition, a remarkable adventure that allowed them to immerse themselves in the beauty of Japan. The Prep students embarked on a captivating journey to Nagoya, while our senior students ventured to Wakayama, both destinations offering unique experiences and opportunities for personal growth. Throughout the week-long expedition, our students honed their skills in mountain biking and hiking, fearlessly exploring new terrains and embracing the wonders of nature. They also delved into thrilling activities such as kayaking and map reading, acquiring new skills and expanding their horizons. The Long Expedition was a transformative experience, enabling our students to build resilience, foster teamwork, and create lasting memories in the breathtaking landscapes of Japan.
Upon their return to campus, our students were greeted with a joyous atmosphere as we celebrated a significant milestone together – the First Year Celebration Assembly. This momentous occasion was graced by esteemed guests, including the Head Master of Harrow UK, the British Ambassador, and the Governor of Iwate. The assembly was a grand affair, filled with warmth and excitement, as we commemorated the remarkable achievements and growth of our students throughout their first year at Harrow Appi. It was a true honor to have such distinguished guests join us in acknowledging the dedication and accomplishments of our Harrovians. The event served as a testament to the exceptional journey we have embarked upon together, and it further solidified our commitment to providing a world-class education in a nurturing and inspiring environment.
As we reached the final week of this half term, our Shell and Remove students faced a significant challenge as they undertook their Trials (exams). These assessments served as a valuable opportunity for our students to gain firsthand experience of the examination format and expectations, preparing them for their upcoming GCSE exams next year. We are immensely proud of our students’ determination and hard work during this testing period. Their dedication and commitment have truly impressed us, and they have earned a well-deserved and restful half term break. We encourage them to take this time to rejuvenate and recharge, knowing that they have given their all and demonstrated their readiness for future academic endeavors.
