April has been a shorter month at Harrow Appi as students returned on 16 April after the Spring Break.
The holidays are a great time to relax and reflect after a busy term. Students and staff returned to Harrow Appi with great excitement and certainly did us proud by reengaging with school life and our Harrow values and standards.
On the first Wednesday of Term 3, we enjoyed the Ogata Formal Dinner. As a British school, it is very important that we impart some of the British traditions on our diverse range of students. Each month, a different House will host the formal dinner and organise the theme, music, guest speakers and even serve the main meal to their peers.
The aim of our formal dinners is to celebrate British traditions and customs, while also providing an opportunity for students to come together and socialise in a formal setting. The event this month provided a chance for students to learn about the importance of etiquette and manners in British culture, while also experiencing the social aspects of a formal event. Together we enjoyed a superb meal of soup, smoked salmon, pork steak, fresh vegetables and potatoes, finished off with strawberry roll cake and fresh fruit.
On Saturday, we celebrated World Earth Day. With nature being a huge part of the learning environment at Harrow Appi, it is our job to educate students about how to maintain our wonderful surroundings for future generations. As part of the Earth Day activities, we asked students for any unwanted clothes. This clothing donation drive helped us to promote sustainable fashion during our Earth Day activities today. We encouraged students to donate their clothes rather than throwing them away to support those in need as well as protecting our planet.
To finish our first week back, we were treated to an incredible Spring Concert, which was a celebration of our talented musical students. We believe that every student has the potential to be a musician and we strive to provide them with ample opportunities to explore their musical abilities.
Our students participate in a variety of musical activities, ranging from the more formal settings of the string orchestra and choir to informal jam sessions where they share their favorite songs with each other. Music is not just a part of our curriculum, it’s a way of life at Harrow Appi. We are committed to providing a nurturing environment where students can unleash their creativity and explore the endless possibilities of music.
Our first week back at Harrow Appi has been successful. We are looking forward to some great opportunities ahead, from the Long Ex, Green Season activities, STEAM Day activities, formal dinners and the official School opening.
